About Suzuki Harunobu, from the series “Banzai-Ukiyoe San-en”
-“Furyu enshoku Mane'emon (The Amorous Adventures of Mane'emon)” is a story of Mane'emon, who is downsized to a pea by use of magical herbs, travels around Japan to peek varieties of lovemakings.
-This is the last scene from the 24 pictures, which depicts Mane'emon looking up a courtesan and her lover having sex on a street at night.
-Since Harunobu's portrait is nowhere to be found, Harunobu appears here as Mane'emon
with eyes that I imagine. The “Mane'emon” series was published in the first month of Meiwa 7 (1770), the year he died at 46.
